August Calendar Picture

August 1, 2011

One of my grandmothers’ plants this time – Passiflora caerulea:

Nothing much to say about this one, other than I’ve been planning to get one for myself for ages, but never got around to do it. Never had enough space, and the seeds I bought once didn’t sprout.

My mother had one when I was younger – maybe more than one. I remember it from when I was in primary school, sitting on the balcony, fascinated with the spiralling tendrils, and then I remember it spending the summer in the garden when I was a teenager, but I couldn’t say if it was around between those times, or if they were two separate plants, with a few passionflower-less years in between. I’m reasonably sure it eventually got left outside too long in the autumn, and was killed by the cold.
