Sometimes I’m Lazy…

… and don’t want to water in the mornings… and come home to this:

I keep underestimating how warm it still gets – the nights may be chilly already, and the mornings foggy (and the sun rising later and later, which, along with the chilliness, makes me want to water in the morning even less), but for the past two weeks or so, we’ve had sunshine and temperatures of 20°C (68°F) and more every day.

But don’t worry: I water them when I come home, and by the next morning, they look like this again:

This is one of the things I love about plants – the way that most of them can just bounce back from neglect like that! (And the fact that these particular plants will soon make a yummy dinner.)

    Is that oxalis to the left of the bright-green … lettuce? As in, is it really related to the North American wood sorrel you can eat?

    Yup, that’s Oxalis triangularis – also supposedly edible, though I haven’t tried it (yet). And the green thing, as well as the red one on the left, is Swiss chard. 🙂
