Harvest Monday – October 8, 2012

October 8, 2012

Not much this week, and even less of it photographed.

There were some chestnuts from the tree by the school, and hazelnuts from the hedge by my mother’s place (no idea why I collect them, I forget to eat them anyway), some herbs, and some ‘Black Plum’ tomatoes. There would be more, of other varieties, but these are the easiest to find when I’m packing my lunch – it’s pretty dark at the time I’m getting up now.

Oh, and some baby leaf lettuce and Asian greens, just enough for a small bowl of salad. I should probably have added more fertilizer to that planter, then I might get more of a harvest… but it’s not worth the trouble any more now, it won’t be long until it gets cold.

… oh, yeah, and there were a few ‘Tumbling Tom’ tomatoes that kind of harvested themselves by tumbling off the plant. I’m not so impressed by this variety.
