Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day – July 2014

July 15, 2014

I find taking pictures of my plants incredibly frustrating lately, because I spend so much time trying to wring decent pictures from my camera, and then they’re still not as good as I would like. I hate replacing things while they’re still sort of working, but I think it really is time for a new one. (I will say this about fifteen times more before I finally buy one…)

Today was not the best of days, so once again, just pictures and no words…

I have a similar relationship with my camera, though it’s helped to standardize my setup (same location, background, light source, time of day, camera settings) and take a gazillion individual images for every picture I want to get. I spend a lot of time flipping back and forth between photo A and photo B, trying to determine which is better.

Since a lot of my plants are outdoors and can’t be moved, standardising anything would not really work… I’m at the mercy of the weather gods. (And yes, the flipping back and forth. I suppose everyone does it, but I still hate it.)

But I do definitely need a new camera before my trip to the US this autumn. I’m not coming home from that trip to discover that all my pictures suck!

I try to remember to take A LOT of photos, and I curse my camera for not liking the color red. Why is that? Your photos look great to me.

They are… okay, I guess, but not great. And I hate having to take so many pictures of the same plant to get one that is halfway decent (and then having to sort through all those pictures).
