A rather ordinary flower… and I don’t even like roses… but I like the colour of the tree in the background. I have no idea what kind of tree it is – this was in the botanical garden in Washington, D.C., and pretty much the first thing that made me really understand I was on a different continent was not recognising the trees.

    Hi,
Glad to come across your blog & in love with your garden. All colorful & bright..I was searching for Schlumbergera & found this blog.It must feel so nice to have a plant passed on from generation to generation. Is there any chance i can also have a cutting or two of these old beauties…
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Neha

That depends on where you live, Neha. If you’re in the European Union, it should be no problem. Anywhere else, it might not be legal to import plants (to limit the spread of plant diseases and pests), and there’s also the issue of shipping costs.
