I’ve often been thinking this year… when we plant a garden, or a container, we worry so much about finding plants that need the same conditions and will look good together… and then I look at the roadsides, and they are full of these beautiful mixes of wildflowers that look so good together, with no planning or intention at all.

I always mean to look up what plants these were, but never get around to it. And right now, it’s just too late at night.

Vetch (Vinca sp.) and poppy (Papaver rhoeas)

Viper’s bugloss (Echium vulgare) and… um. Some yellow stuff.
